A disruptive and downright revolutionary timepiece, the Royal Oak is immediately recognizable thanks to its state-of-the-art engineered strongbox case, octagonal bezel secured by eight hexagonal screws, visible water resistance gaskets, dials adorned with exclusive engine-turned “Grande Tapisserie” motif. 1972. Audemars Piguet launched something the world had never seen: a stainless-steel luxury watch. In an era when gold was considered the only high-end option, it was a gamble. But it paid off with the birth of one our most iconic watches.

Case: Three-body, polished and brushed, octagonal bezel with 8 hexagonal white gold nuts embanked in 8 white gold screws on the case back, screw-down hexagonal winding crown, sapphire crystals. Bracelet in very good condition.

Dial: Grey, in perfect condition, 100% original, “Tapisserie” decoration, luminous steel baton indexes, date aperture, outer minute division. Luminous steel baton hands.

Movement: Cal. 2225, rhodium-plated, fausses cotes decoration, straight line lever escapement, monometalic balance, shock-absorber, self-compensating flat balance spring, 21K gold rotor, hack mechanism. Dial, case and movement signed.

Diameter: 36 mm. Thickness 8 mm.
