This Jaeger-LeCoultre Shark ref. E2643 is in superb condition overall – never worn, New Old Stock. This is the only example on the market that comes with original filled warranty, and Jaeger LeCoultre box. Watch was sold 23 of December 1980 in Romanshorn, Switzerland, so we can suspect that it was a high-class Christmas Eve gift.
Case of the watch was never polished, it is 100% unworn, showcasing thick lugs and well-defined bevels. The engraving on the case back is very deep and easily readable. The dial is similarly perfectly-preserved, no discolorations or signs of time. The luminescent material has acquired a charming yellow patina over time. There are a few very small micro-scratches on the caseback from keeping the watch in a drawer.
Every component of this watch is 100% original, from the bezel insert, case, pushers, crown. It comes with original TROPIC strap – on this strap the watch was sold almost 50 years ago and this strap has never been used.
Movement: Valjoux 72 in perfect untouched condition. It operates flawlessly, with the chronograph running smoothly. The mechanism has been serviced in our watchmaking atelier, maintaining a strict quality and accuracy policy.
The essence of the ’60s and ’70s revolved around tough, stylish dive watches. As diving gained popularity during that time, a multitude of dive watches flooded the market, ranging from affordable skin divers to top-notch models like the Rolex Deep Sea. Both the look and lifestyle of diving and sports were highly sought after.
Jaeger LeCoultre Shark was one of the coolest timepieces of its time. Sporting a robust 41mm stainless steel case with bold, angular lugs, it boasts an aluminum bezel and a black dial with contrasting white subdials. Sold as the Shark DeepSea in the US and dubbed the JLC ‚Vogue’ in Europe, it’s undeniably handsome from any angle.
What sets the E2643 apart is its rarity. Produced in extremely limited quantities, only a few examples surface each year. While there are similar dive watches from the same era, the E2643 stands out for its scarcity and the allure of the Jaeger LeCoultre name on the dial.
In the world of luxury watches, the Jaeger-LeCoultre Deep Sea Shark Chronograph Ref. E2643 stands out as a symbol of adventure and exploration. With its striking design, impeccable craftsmanship, and exceptional performance, it pays homage to Jaeger-LeCoultre’s enduring legacy of innovation and excellence. Whether worn on land or submerged beneath the waves, this timepiece is sure to captivate the hearts of enthusiasts and collectors alike, serving as a constant reminder of the boundless possibilities that lie beneath the surface.
This Jaeger-LeCoultre Shark ref. E2643 is the unique opportunity to purchase such a rare watch in unused, perfect condition, with a complete set of documents and boxes.
